Carlsbad KOA – Located near Carlsbad, New Mexico, this KOA offers spacious RV sites, cabin rentals, and amenities like a dog park and seasonal BBQ, making it a cozy base for exploring nearby attractions. Families love it for its relaxed environment and proximity to Carlsbad Caverns and other nearby points of interest.
2. Living Desert Zoo and Gardens State Park – Just outside Carlsbad, this state park provides an immersive experience into the Chihuahuan Desert’s ecosystem. The zoo features native desert animals like bobcats, reptiles, and prairie dogs, along with an array of desert flora, offering a fun and educational experience that highlights the unique wildlife of the region.
3. Roswell, NM – Famous for its extraterrestrial history, Roswell is a quirky and fun stop with attractions like the International UFO Museum & Research Center, alien-themed shops, and murals scattered throughout town. It’s a perfect mix of novelty and history, especially for families looking for an out-of-this-world experience.
4. Kerrville KOA Journey – Heading back into Texas, the Kerrville KOA provides a comfortable stopover in the Texas Hill Country. Known for its relaxing atmosphere and convenience, this KOA has shaded sites, a recreation room, and easy access to nearby Hill Country wineries, parks, and quaint towns, making it a good resting spot before continuing the journey.
